About TRT

The body produces less and less testosterone over time. Chronically low levels of testosterone in men is diagnosed as hypogonadism. It affects 10-30% of the male population. (1) As testosterone levels decrease, your body changes subtly but steadily. Some of these changes include:

  • Reduced sex drive
  • The onset of erectile dysfunction
  • Shrinking sperm count
  • More difficulty sleeping
  • Loss of muscle and bone density
  • Weight gain

Losing your body’s natural hormonal balance is an unfortunate part of getting older. Luckily, TRT can help bring your testosterone levels up and help you to restore your health.

BioTE Hormone Therapy

At Rotemberg Plastic Surgery, we offer a convenient and natural option for effective TRT with BioTE Hormone Therapy. This treatment involves small pellets that release hormones directly into the body. The testosterone that is released is bio-identical, which means that it is identical to the testosterone that the body creates naturally. The pellets are embedded under the skin and they release a continuous dose of testosterone to balance your body’s hormone levels. The consistent dose that the BioTE pellets offer is more reliable than the varied and unpredictable doses that topical creams or medications are known to provide for hormone replacement therapy.

Benefits of BioTE Hormone Therapy

BioTE Hormone Therapy employs comprehensive blood work analysis to pinpoint the amount of testosterone you need to achieve healthy hormone levels. Once the pellet has been placed in your body, it will deliver a precise and steady dose of testosterone until it dissolves naturally three to five months later. This method has proven to be a safer alternative than other hormone replacement methods. (2)

Testosterone replacement with BioTE hormone therapy can provide many positive effects. These include:

  • Increased sex drive and performance
  • Increase in energy
  • Heightened memory and focus
  • Improved mood
  • Healthy weight loss
  • Improved strength and muscle growth
  • Improved sleep
  • Less frequent headaches and joint pain

Who is a Candidate for BioTE Hormone Therapy?

The ideal candidate for TRT with BioTE Hormone Therapy will want to improve their well-being and fight against the processes of aging. Many people also undergo TRT because medical conditions like liver or kidney disease have depleted their testosterone levels. Whatever the case, if you feel that your hormone levels are not where they should be, BioTE could be the solution for you.

Most patients of BioTE hormone therapy are at least thirty years old, but if you are in your twenties and you feel your hormones may be off balance, you can get them tested to see if TRT might benefit you.

BioTE hormone therapy is great for patients who have a busy lifestyle. With the convenient hormone pellet, you will never need to remember to take your hormone medication. Once it has been placed inside your body you can essentially forget about it. You can enjoy the benefits of testosterone replacement while going about your everyday life.

Preparation

In preparation for your TRT with BioTE Hormone Therapy, we will perform a comprehensive blood work analysis so that we can precisely determine the dosage for your treatment. With this information we will have BioTE pellets made specifically for you.

We will provide you with personalized instructions on how you can best prepare for the treatment. It is important that you follow these instructions so that your TRT is as safe and effective as possible. We may ask that you stop or start taking certain medications so that you have the highest likelihood of benefitting from your testosterone replacement treatment.

BioTE Hormone Therapy Procedure

On the day of your procedure, we will give you local anesthetic to numb your insertion area. Your provider will make a small incision and insert the hormone pellet into your subcutaneous tissue. The incision will be closed and your BioTE Hormone Therapy procedure will be complete.

Recovery

To ensure proper recovery from your treatment, you should avoid strenuous activity for two days afterward. You may experience minimal swelling and redness at your insertion site. This will go away after a few days. Your insertion site may be sensitive for a few days after your procedure. This can be alleviated with over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol.

Results

You may experience alleviation of your symptoms and an improvement in your well-being as early as 24-72 hours after your hormone pellet has been inserted. However, it is not likely that you will begin to feel the full effect of your testosterone replacement until around three weeks after your treatment. Having balanced hormones is just part of a healthy lifestyle. You should maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to optimize your well-being. To uphold the beneficial effects of your TRT, you will need to receive new hormone pellets every four to five months.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Here at Rotemberg Plastic Surgery, we offer procedures that can correspond with and complement your TRT.

IV Vitamins

IV Vitamins are an intravenous treatment that can provide you with essential nutrients that can become more difficult to maintain with a healthy diet as you grow older. This treatment allows you to absorb vitamins and minerals directly into your bloodstream more efficiently than through oral supplements. We can measure your vitamin deficiencies to create a personalized formula that will maximize the benefits you receive from this treatment. In conjunction with your TRT, I.V. Vitamins can greatly improve your well-being.

FAQ

What is the function of testosterone?

Testosterone is a hormone produced by the body that is responsible for the maintenance of sexual characteristics. It is also related to hair growth, the maintenance of muscle and bone health, sex drive, and mood and energy level. As you age, your body produces less and less testosterone. This can have adverse effects on your well-being.

What are the benefits of TRT?

TRT can alleviate all the symptoms of low testosterone, as well as provide general benefits to your overall well-being. This includes increased energy, mood and sexual performance. TRT can also improve muscle mass, bone strength, and cognitive function.

What is hormone pellet therapy?

Hormone pellet therapy is a method of hormone replacement therapy that involves the insertion of a hormone pellet into the body. A hormone pellet contains bioidentical hormones that enter the body in a consistent dose until it dissolves after three to six months. This is a convenient form of hormone replacement, as there is no responsibility placed on the patient in order for them to get their daily dose of hormones.

Can testosterone replacement therapy be used for women?

Yes, testosterone replacement therapy can be utilized for women who have low testosterone levels. Women may experience symptoms such as decreased libido, fatigue, depression, and loss of muscle mass due to low testosterone. However, the dosage and administration of testosterone for women may differ from that of men, as it needs to be carefully tailored to their specific needs.
