Sculptra Butt Lift

Sculptra is a Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) filler used in the buttocks to produce gradual volume and an enhanced contour. Gluteal augmentation is an increasingly popular cosmetic procedure that provides skin smoothing and subtle enhancement in the area.

Many women desire a curvier rear. However, some surgical enhancements like the BBL  require a considerable amount of fat to be harvested from elsewhere on the body. For some patients without the additional fat, it can be difficult to get good results. So, a Sculptra butt lift is a good alternative for patients without the excess fat in a donor area. For patients who want to enhance their behind in a less dramatic way than the Brazilian Butt Lift, a Sculptra butt lift can provide long-lasting results with minimal hassle!

Dr. Silvia Rotemberg is a leading South Florida plastic surgeon specializing in the highest quality body contouring procedures. About Sculptra

Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable. It is commonly used in the face and other areas of the body to provide long-lasting aesthetic results. It’s made from a unique substance called PLLA; a biostimulatory substance that induces collagen production in the body. Collagen is a vital component in skin structure that keeps it plump and youthful-looking. By stimulating new collagen deep in the skin, a Sculptra butt lift is a low-risk way to enhance the curvature of your butt.

Unlike other dermal fillers, PLLA lasts a lot longer in the body. In fact, research conducted by the FDA regarding Sculptra injection in the face backs these claims. After two years, the study revealed that full aesthetic correction was apparent in 80% of their study subjects.(1)

How is PLLA Different from Other Fillers?

PLLA is not your average filler. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane, it lasts in the body for a longer period of time. PLLA is in the alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) family of substances. AHAs synthetic biodegradable polymers, one of the primary functions of which is to stimulate new collagen (neocollagenesis). These polymers are metabolized slowly and safely by the body over time. (2) Although PLLA is not naturally found in the body, it is made of a substance that is; lactic acid. It’s biodegradable and body safe. In fact, if you have ever had a surgery, the chances are your incisions may have been sealed using it, as PLLA has been used in absorbable sutures for over three decades!

Benefits

  • Minimally-invasive alternative to BBL
  • Beautiful, natural-looking results
  • Subtly lifts and reshapes the buttocks
  • Shorter procedure and downtime
  • Long-lasting effects for two years or more
  • Avoids many of the risks associated with with BBL

Sculptra Butt Lift vs. BBL

Many women aren’t looking for the dramatic bulging often produced by BBL surgery. But, they still want to enhance the appearance of their buttocks. Additionally, Sculptra treatment requires no surgical incisions and less downtime in comparison to more invasive procedures. Sculptra helps the body to regrow collagen gradually over time, which allows patients to enjoy subtle, natural-looking enhancements.

Candidates for Sculptra Butt Lift

The Sculptra butt lift is ideal for leaner patients who do not have enough fat to harvest for a BBL. If you’re in good general health, with no underlying conditions that could affect your treatment. Dr. Rotemberg stresses the importance of being at or near your ideal weight at the time of your treatment. She also makes it clear to all patients that results from a Sculptra butt lift are not as dramatic as a BBL, so it’s important to have realistic expectations of the goals Sculptra treatment can achieve well before the procedure takes place.

If you’re allergic to any ingredients in Sculptra, have an active skin infection in the area of treatment, or have a history of keloid scarring, Sculptra may not be a good fit for your needs. (3)

Personal Consultation

To find out if Sculptra is right for your needs, we invite you to come to our South Florida office for a personal consultation with Dr. Rotemberg. She will ask you some questions about your aesthetic goals, including the size and shape of the buttocks you desire. She will also check your body fat percentage if you’re unsure if you have enough extra fat to harvest for a BBL. She will then perform a physical examination of the proposed area of treatment, noting tissue quality and anatomical projection

During your personal consultation, you will have the chance to talk to Dr. Rotemberg about your surgical and non-surgical options. Generally, if you aren’t sure whether a BBL will be possible or not, your initial consultation with Dr. Rotemberg will determine if a BBL or Sculptra is appropriate for a patient’s gluteal augmentation.

Preparation

To prepare for a Sculptra butt lift, Dr. Rotemberg advises the following:

In the weeks before your procedure:

  • Avoid over-the-counter medications that promote bleeding (e.g. aspirin, NSAID pain medications)
  • Stop taking supplements that prolong bleeding (e.g. ginkgo biloba, fish oil, garlic)
  • Cease the use of blood thinners (speak to your primary care doctor to confirm the safety of stopping any medication)

On the day of treatment:

  • Eat and drink before your injections
  • Receive topical numbing 20-30 minutes prior to your procedure

Sculptra Butt Lift Procedure

Sculptra gluteal augmentation is simple and fast! After administering local numbing, Dr. Rotemberg will choose strategic injection sites in the gluteal area to place the Sculptra. This procedure usually takes around 30 minutes to complete. Once all the necessary injections have been made, there is no need to stay for monitoring. You will be free to leave immediately after your treatment!

Recovery

There are only a few things you will need to do to ensure you get the best results from your Sculptra butt lift treatment. Massage the area for five minutes, five times a day for five days following your treatment. And take non-NSAID over-the-counter pain medication (acetaminophen/Tylenol) to deal with any temporary discomfort.

You should expect local swelling, bruising, and redness during your recovery. The bruising may be noticeable for the first week to two weeks. You may also feel small papules under the skin. These papules are not raised on the surface. This is nothing to worry about and is a normal part of the healing process. If you experience any raised bumps, warmth, or unusual skin color changes during your recovery, please get in touch with us.

Sculptra works slowly to build collagen in the area of treatment. The initial volume difference after your treatment will mainly be swelling, and will not reflect your final results. Your results will not be immediate, but they will begin to show between 4-6 weeks post-procedure.

Results

Depending on your treatment plan, Dr. Rotemberg may suggest one or multiple Sculptra injections for the best results. After 4-6 weeks, you will notice a plumped, natural-looking behind with smooth skin. You can expect to enjoy these results for two years or more!

Brazilian Butt Lift

If you’re looking to add more dramatic volume to your buttocks, look no further than the BBL. A Brazilian butt lift harvests fat from a donor area of the body, such as the abdomen, treats it, then places it in the gluteal area. It’s an incredibly popular procedure, and is an alternative to a Sculptra butt lift, particularly for patients with an adequate amount of fat to harvest for transfer.

Body Lift

Dr. Rotemberg can perform a body lift procedure for patients who want to radically change their appearance. This could involve the use of liposuction to reduce fat, or a surgery such as an abdominoplasty to remove excess skin. Body lifting can be performed on a number of areas to deal with sagging skin, including the upper body, midbody, and lower body. A total body lift can address every area.

Mommy Makeover

A mommy makeover procedure is designed to be both practical and customizable following pregnancy. New mothers expect sagging skin and excess fat to affect their appearance, but a mommy makeover can trim your figure and create a more youthful-looking silhouette. Patients can choose from a variety of procedures as part of their mommy makeover, including abdominoplasty, liposuction, breast lift, and breast augmentation.
