As women age their breasts can droop and lose their shape. This can happen from age, giving birth, breastfeeding, and changes in weight. These changes can make a woman look older and make her clothes not fit as well as they once did.

Unshapely breasts, downward pointed nipples, and sagging can make women feel uncomfortable and insecure. This change in their figure can stop them from to wearing a bathing suit, tank top, or fitted outfits.

Confidence is the most appealing quality to others. It’s what draws us to want to strike up a conversation with someone. Misshapen breasts can occur for many reasons and it can leave women feeling insecure. One way to reinvigorate your confidence, feel more comfortable wearing most anything, and regaining a more youthful figure, is by creating a more shapely and raised breast. A breast lift, known as mastopexy, might be the right choice for you.

What is Mastopexy (Breast Lift)?

Mastopexy is a cosmetic surgery that helps to reshape, raise, and sculpt the breasts to create a more supple breast, as well as reposition the nipples. Breast lift does not change the size of the breasts. This procedure will promote a youthful figure by tightening the breast skin and soft tissue. Many women choose to have a breast lift in a combination with Breast Augmentation to lift, shape, and enlarge the size of the breasts, a Breast Reduction to lift, shape, and reduce the size of the breast, or a Laser Bra Lift which creates through laser an internal bra to protect the results of the breast lift. Dr. Silvia Rotemberg will discuss if lifting, augmenting, and/or reducing the size of the breast is right for you.

Donut Lift

donutThe Donut Lift, known as the Peri-areolar lift, is meant for women who have minimal sagging or slightly asymmetrical breasts, and also want to reduce the size of their areola. The incision is circular along the entire areola, and leaves minimal scarring.

This type of breast lift will result in a more shapely and perky breast, as well as a smaller areola. The donut lift can be done at the same time as a breast augmentation.

Lollipop Lift

lolipopAnother form of breast lift is the procedure of the Lollipop Lift, or vertical lift. This type of breast lift is meant for women whose breast have a more significant droop and need more than a minimal lift. This procedure will start with a circular incision around the areola and run from the areola to the fold under the breast; creating a lollipop look.

This type of breast lift can shape the entire breast through the lift, and by removing excess skin. The lollipop lift will leave a slight scar running down the breast, but over time with proper care can become minimal.

Anchor Lift

anchorThe Anchor Lift, also called the Inverted-T lift, is meant for women who have a lot of excess skin and soft tissue. The procedure will start with a circular incision around the areola to the fold under the breast, and then continue along the fold.

This type of breast lift can produce the most dramatic results, by reshaping the breast, removing excess skin and soft tissue. The anchor lift will leave a slight scar running down the breast and under the fold, but over time with proper care can become minimal.

Alternatives

A breast lift renders the best result for sagging breasts to regain a more youthful figure. Since, not all women need a surgical breast lift, or may not be a candidate for surgery for health reasons, there are some alternatives to a traditional breast lift:

Botox Lift

Botox Injection (botulinum toxin) is a cosmetic procedure that can help lift the breasts. This type of non-surgical lift is done by injecting Botox into the minor chest muscle. The results are minimal, and usually are repeated every three to four months.

Breform Internal Bra

The Breform Internal Bra is a mesh-like internal bra that is implanted into the breast. The mesh will eventually mix with the tissue of your breast and dissolve into it. This is a surgical procedure that takes about four hours to complete. The lift will stay with you as long as your weight does not fluctuate. Depending on the person, this may create the result desired.

Breast Auto Augmentation

Breast Auto Augmentation is similar to a surgical breast lift, however, it augments the size of the breast by using the soft tissue, not an implant, to change the size of the breast, as well as trimming excess skin. This can be more dramatic than just a traditional breast lift, due to the manipulation of the soft breast tissue which creates an “implant” look to it. This is ideal for women who have excess skin and tissue to work with.
